Split, Croatia

Docked in Split, Croatia around 10am. Easy walk from the ship to the Split City Museum & Diocletian’s Palace where we saw the Courtyard, the Baptistry of St John/the Temple of Jupiter, the Cathedral of St Domnius (there was a wedding taking place) as well as walked through the Peoples Square. We of course stopped for some lunch – had a great salad with local ham on it (not Boars Head, if ya know what I mean). We walked around and shopped a bit too then cooled off in the shade with a Pina Colada.

Forehead update: stopped in ship medical center. He said it is healing nicely…will be getting a tetanus shot tomorrow

We don’t leave the port until 10:30pm so we are resting a bit from the heat then will head back for a local dinner.

All aboard

So today started out a little rough. Hit my forehead on a glass bedside lamp hanging on the wall. It would not have been a bloody mess had it not already been broken, assuming by someone previously unplugging their phone, just like me. After some applied pressure, ice & a band-aid, it was time to move on. We headed for our transfer from Venice to Trieste to board our ship, the Oosterdam. The back half of the drive was beautiful and Trieste is a nice seaside town. After getting through the boarding process, we enjoyed the afternoon by one of the pools overlooking the harbor. Tomorrow we dock in Split, Croatia.

Last day in Venice

Today started off with a gondola ride through Venice then a leisurely lunch in Saint Mark’s Square followed by some shopping as we roamed the streets & bridges.
